WALL-X | 3D Wall scanner
Construction tool that scans and projects an image of whats inside a wall
WHY?
In the spring of 2017 FLIR and Umeå Institute of Design made a project together. The task was to find a new business area for FLIR to operate in. I found that their technology could be used in construction to increase the safety for the user.
OUTCOME
The result of this project is WALL-X. A smart, compact device that scans surfaces and detects pipes, studs and cables. Another cool function is that it is possible to project a 2D image directly on the target to make sure the user can engage in the wall with maximum control.
RF TECHNOLOGY
The RF-chip creates an 3D image of the room in order to get the right perspective on the projection.
